Removable dental restorations refer to dental appliances that can be taken out of the mouth for cleaning or maintenance. These restorations are designed to replace missing teeth or cover damaged teeth, restoring your smile’s aesthetics and functionality.

Examples of removable dental restorations include dentures and partial dentures. Dentures are prosthetic devices that replace all of the teeth on the upper or lower jaw. Partial dentures, on the other hand, replace one or several missing teeth and are designed to attach to the remaining natural teeth using metal clasps.

Unlike fixed restorations, removable restorations can be taken out of the mouth for cleaning and maintenance, making them easier to care for. However, they may not be as stable as fixed restorations and may require periodic adjustments or replacements. Dentists can help determine which type of restoration is best suited for an individual needs and preferences.

Valplast Partials

The highest level of patient comfort is offered by this flexible thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic is non-allergenic and free of monomers. Valplast partials have translucent clasps, which enhance looks and can be paired with a metal framework for added stability.

Implant Stabilized Cast Partials

Using a locator attachment

These tissue-supported prostheses are an excellent option for your edentulous and partially edentulous patients. 85% of people with these types of restorations report they are healthier and are able to eat different food such as fruits and vegetables because of their stabilized dentures. The locator has two components: the abutment that screws into the implant and the nylon housing that is embedded in the prosthesis. Over time both of these components experience wear; depending on the patient, some will wear faster than others.

When talking to your patient about the wear of these components, you might offer the comparison of car maintenance, e.g. oil change twice a year, replace tires every few years. The nylon housing requires replacement every 6 months and the abutment will need to be replaced every few years. If the nylon housing is worn more frequently the denture or partial needs to be relined to extend the life of the housing and abutment. Few labs have our knowledge and experience with all implant systems. With over 60 years of combined hands-on implant experience, we are able to help your dental team from start to finish whether the case is a single-tooth screw-retained implant or a fixed removable overdenture.

The Locator® Overdenture Implant System

Locator Males

Dental Implants Locator Standard Range
Allows for insertion of the overdenture onto the dental implant abutment with up to 20° of divergence between both dental implants.

The unique Dual Retention innovation provides the LOCATOR® Attachment with a greater retention surface area than ever before available. Dual retention and pivoting action provide resiliency to maximize stability and longevity. Retention force can be evaluated chairside depending on patient preference for level of ease-of-insertion and removal

Extended Range Males

Dental Implants Locator Extended Range
Allow for insertion of the overdenture onto the dental implant abutment with up to an extensive 40° of divergence between dental implants.

Extended Range Male’s pivoting action accommodates an insertion with up to 40° total divergence, allowing you to restore a non-parallel implant with up to 20 degrees of angulation. This calculates to an extensive 40 degrees of divergence between two implants.

RDL Cast Partial

Our Cast Partial department is always available to discuss the best options for the design of a removable prosthesis for your patient. All our cast partials are made with nickel-free and beryllium-free alloys. To ensure the casting will maintain the integrity of the alloy, we use new metal for every casting. This prevents porosity and makes casting of superior quality by retaining the alloy’s properties.

Laser Welding

Rotsaert has been utilizing laser welding technology since 1993. The benefit of laser welding is that it elimintes solder resulting in a solid parent alloy connection comparable to a solid casting. In cast partials it allows you to append to a framework without removing or causing damage to the acrylic. For implants, the bars and bridges are laser welded creating an accurate and passive fit.

Laser welding gives you consistently precise results while offering versatility and flexibility to your existing prosthesis.

Creating 3D records of finished dentures.

The procedure we’ve put in place at Rotsaert Dental Laboratory is a hybrid that combines digital dentistry with a tried-and-true lab procedure. For our customers, we now duplicate finished dentures. The core concept was inspired by a client who was coping with their grandma in a retirement facility.

The topic of whether we could digitally scan an existing denture and make a new one without the client taking an impression was posed. I questioned, “Why do you desire that? The client stated that they do not want to go through the impression-taking and fabrication steps necessary to make a new denture.
