Preventing Peri-implantitis
by Design and Protocol
Presented by: Emil LA Svoboda PhD, DDS
Course Description: The current Cement-in and the Screw-in prosthesis installation techniques can expose our patients to risk factors known to cause peri-implant disease. Dr. Svoboda has identified new prosthesis designs and installation protocols that can reduce these risk factors. Both Dr. Svoboda and the RCDSO is concerned about the “Prevalence of Peri-implant Disease” due to current prosthesis installation techniques.

Speaker Biography
Dr. Emil Svoboda earned his BSc, PhD, and DDS at the University of Toronto. His undergraduate studies included Bacteriology and Virology, and his PhD research was an electron microscopic study of collagen phagocytosis by periodontal ligament cells. This work gave Dr. Svoboda a perspective of biology at the micron and submicron level, that is necessary for the prevention of peri-implantitis.
He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and a Diplomate of the American board of Oral Implantlogy. Dr. Svoboda was awarded the Honored Fellow status from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry for his significant contribution to implant dentistry, and was also presented with the Award of Merit by the Ontario Dental Association for his contribution to organized dentistry.
Dr. Svoboda has lectured about implant dentistry world- wide and has presented his recent work in Boston, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Chicago, Vancouver and Missis- sauga. Dr. Svoboda is serious about preventing peri- implantitis.
